Amanda Masino - Associate Professor of Biology at Huston-Tillotson University visits our classroom

We have a partnership with PBS Student Reporting Labs.

Our main contact helping us is William F. Swift (Coordinating Producer, STEM and Health Student Reporting Labs PBS NEWSHOUR).

More about PBS here:

Mr Swift introduced us to our mentor with the following words via email:

"It is with great pleasure I am able to introduce you to Ms. Amanda Masino, who will be your new STEM Mentor for your Assignment 2, Citizen Science story this spring.  One of the reasons I am  excited to introduce Amanda is that she is a biologist and environmental scientist and a lot more."

Ms Masino talked with Mr Goetz (Audio Video Teacher) for about an hour and then she took some time to talk with Senior Gabriela Chavez about her PBS video about healing with horses on a ranch.

Ms Masino also talked about the dumpster project at Huston Tillotson. The dumpster can be seen here with a google satellite image. The dumpster is the white box below and the four section grid is a solar panel that powers the dumpster.
